THE HISTORY OF HONG KONG
The first opium war was fought between the British india company and the Qing dynasty in china from 1839 to 1842 with
the aim of forcing china to import British opium.
After the deaths of thousands of Chinese, the first Opium War ended on Aug. 29, 1842. The British forced the Chinese
government to pay $15 million to the British merchants and open five ports to the English trade. The Chinese government
also ceded Hong Kong to the British.
Since then,Hong Kong became the British colony for 100 years .
