Hong Kong's population was approximately 6.9 million in 2006.  Hong Kong is the world's 11th largest trading economy, with the mainland of China as its most significant trading partner.

Pubilc Holidays in Hong Kong

  • Working week: Monday to Saturday
  • Statutory holidays: 12
  • General holidays: 17 (including the 12 statutory holidays)

 

The tallest building in Hong Kong is the IFC(International Finance Centre).

THE HISTORY OF HONG KONG

The first opium war was fought between the British india company and the Qing dynasty in china from 1839 to 1842 with the aim of forcing china to import British opium. 

After the deaths of thousands of Chinese, the first Opium War ended on Aug. 29, 1842. The British forced the Chinese government to pay $15 million to the British merchants and open  five ports to the  English trade. The Chinese government also ceded Hong Kong to the British.

Since then,Hong Kong became the British colony for 100 years .

This is the Bauhinia Blakeana flower. The Bauhinia Blakeana flower is the symbol of Hong Kong .It was named after Sir Henry Blake who was the British Governor of Hong Kong from 1898 - 1903
